Rollertown Beerworks, in collaboration with Dallas Sumo Club, today announces the return of its highly-anticipated sumo wrestling competition. The 2nd Annual Rollertown Showdown Sumo Tournament Presented by Range Hand Meat Co. is a one of-a-kind experience that will showcase authentic sumo wrestling while celebrating Japanese culture as a whole.
The event marks the annual return of Rollertown’s acclaimed Japanese Lager, House of Warlords. Rollertown will be releasing a second beer for the occasion, a Yuzu Japanese Lager, Chikara Bīru (which translates to “power beer”), as well as a signature BBQ bourbon cocktail, The Range Hand Trail Boss, named after the event’s presenting sponsor.
Run by the Dallas Sumo Club, the tournament will feature over 45 competitors from across the world drafted into teams of East & West to battle it out for sumo supremacy. Highlighting the event will be the presence of sumo luminary Gagamaru Masaru. As the tournament’s Guest of Honor, Masaru will be joining Rollertown directly from Japan and will be accompanied by fellow sumo legend Yamamotoyama Ryūta.
Attendees will indulge in a feast for the senses with authentic Japanese cuisine provided by Niwa Japanese BBQ, Weebie Takoyaki, Shogeki Sumo, and Hoshi Japanese Sweets among others. Dallas Kiyari Daiko will perform traditional Taiko drum ensembles for attendees to enjoy as they visit an array of local Japanese vendors including Mitsuwa Marketplace, Madame Nagasaki Kimonos, and K Puffs.
This rare opportunity to witness the thrilling world of traditional sumo wrestling, engage with past and future sumo legends, and enjoy authentic Japanese culture right here in North Texas is free to attend.
