If you follow Craft Beer Cellar Dallas on Instagram, then you already know that they are planning to close by the end of July – if not sooner based on inventory levels. As a follower of this website, you’ve likely heard our state of craft discussions with CBC Dallas manager Jim Waskow on the Modern Brews & Beats podcast (if not, listen here for history about Jim and the store and here for updates). So, I want to discuss why I believe this Craft Beer Cellar experience matters to the local scene. I emphasize, this Craft Beer Cellar experience, because I know CBC is a franchise with locations throughout the country. I’m speaking about the Dallas location only. Here are three reasons why CBC Dallas stands out to me.

CBC Dallas has a wide selection of beer from throughout Dallas, Ft. Worth, and the mid-cities, so it’s a great one-stop shop to get the latest. If you’re new to craft beer in general or what’s available from breweries locally and – like many- don’t have the time to travel to individual breweries throughout the city, CBC Dallas is your spot. How many times have you purchased a 4-, 6-, or more pack of beer only to taste one and find you’re not a fan? Well, for a slight upcharge, you can purchase a single can or bottle from almost any 4- or 6-pack without further commitment.
Extensive Beyond Beer Selection
Looking for hop waters, kombucha, THC-infused drinks, or non-alcoholic beer? Yep, they have a good selection of products in these categories. And again, knowing that you don’t have to commit to a full package makes it even easier to try a variety of beverages.
International Selection
As a Certified Cicerone, Waskow not only curates a great selection of stateside beers, but has one of the widest and freshest international beer selections around. If you’ve purchased some international beers at some big box shops around town and tasted cardboard or lightstruck flavors, you can trust that you won’t have that experience at CBC Dallas.
So. these are my top three reasons for recommending CBC Dallas and it’s what I’ll miss most when they close. If you have an opportunity to stop by CBC Dallas before the month ends, please do so.
